A village suffered from severe drought. The villagers gathered around a holy hermit who was staying in his hermitage in a nearby forest. They asked him to pray for rain and save their lives. He agreed but asked them to come to him the next day at the same time with full faith. They rushed to him the next day but the saint said, “There is no use in praying for rain now as none of you has true faith.” “We are full of faith”, they asserted. “Then why didn’t you bring your umbrellas with you?” asked the sage. They left the place in shame.
